Premat excluded for tyre mix-up
Alexandre Premat has been excluded from eighth place in today's DTM race at Lausitz following a tyre mix up at one of his pitstops
The French driver was thrown out of the race after one of his mechanics mixed up two sets of tyres, meaning that one of the tyres Premat used during the race was not from his allocation.
Despite the mix-up effectively offering the Audi driver no advantage, the stewards decided to exclude him from the event.
"Of course it is disappointing, but it is just a mistake," Premat told autosport.com. "Maybe if I was higher up I would be more upset, but I still showed my pace today and had a good performance."
Premat is also hoping that he has got rid of some bad luck ahead of this year's Le Mans 24 Hours, where he will share an Audi R10 with Mike Rockenfeller and Lucas Luhr.
"I would rather have this bad luck than something at Le Mans," said the joint Le Mans Series championship leader. "Hopefully we won't have too much bad luck with the R10, and we can get a good result."
Premat's exclusion moves his teammate Oliver Jarvis up to the final points-scoring position in eighth.
