Turner leads all-SEAT front row
Darren Turner made it an all-SEAT front row for the third British Touring Car Championship round in a row at Knockhill
Turner, who was on pole at the Scottish circuit last year as well, produced an astonishing display in his Leon TDI, completing only two flying laps early on and then spending the rest of the session in the pits after setting a time of 53.163 seconds that would remain unbeaten.
His teammate Jason Plato got within 0.013 seconds in what was an uneventful, but thankfully dry session, but could not repeat his performances at Snetterton and Oulton Park and had to settle for second - allowing Turner to take his second pole of the year.
Third fastest was an indication of Tom Chilton's recent upturn in form, but the Team Halfords driver will start ninth because of a six-place grid penalty he incurred for causing a race-three pile-up at Oulton Park.
His demotion means that the second row was filled by Tom Onslow-Cole and Matt Neal in their Vauxhalls with Colin Turkington's Team RAC BMW and the third Vectra of champion and championship leader Fabrizio Giovanardi next up.
Seventh was Mat Jackson for BMW Dealer Team UK with Andrew Jordan eighth in his Eurotech-John Guest Honda. Local hero Gordon Shedden will share the fifth row with his team-mate Chilton.
