Shedden wins final Knockhill race

Gordon Shedden led a Halfords Honda one-two in the final British Touring Car Championship race of the day at Knockhill

Matt Neal held off Jason Plato for second, and with Fabrizio Giovanardi only managing fifth behind Mike Jordan, Plato will go to the series finale at Thruxton next month in the lead of the championship.

Reverse grid pole-sitter Jordan led the first four laps before being usurped by Neal.

Meanwhile Shedden was making rapid progress from fifth on the grid - driving around the outside of Plato at the hairpin on the first lap, then swiftly passing Adam Jones for third.

The Scot took second from Jordan on lap seven and then settled in behind teammate Neal.

But with Plato closing in on the Halfords cars in the second half of the race, Shedden overtook Neal for the race lead on lap 16.

Neal then resisted Plato's pressure for the remaining eight laps to secure second.

Giovanardi had followed Plato through the field early on but could not find a way around Jordan for fourth. The result leaves the Italian eight points behind Plato with just the Thruxton triple-header remaining.
