Leon diesels available to customers

Diesel SEAT Leons could run on a customer basis for the first time in the British Touring Car Championship next year after the manufacturer's UK arm confirmed that their two cars will be put up for sale in the near future

SEAT decided earlier this month to pull out of UK motorsport for the foreseeable future and the pair of Leon TDIs ,driven to ten wins this season by Jason Plato and Darren Turner, will now be made available to customers.

"Once the dust has settled, the cars will be put up for sale," SEAT's UK motorsport manager Scott Dennis told this week's Autosport. "SEAT UK owns the cars, the money would go there. We'll sell them to the best bidder and they can run them wherever they want to run them.

"Hopefully we'll see them in the BTCC next year."

It's unclear at this stage which teams, if any, are in the running for the cars, either from the BTCC, WTCC, or other another series.

Autosport understands, however, that BTCC squad Team Air-Cool, who ran Adam Jones in a petrol-powered Leon this year, are not among them.
