Jordan gets Vectra for 2009

Andrew Jordan will race a Vauxhall Vectra in next year's British Touring Car Championship after Eurotech-John Guest Racing pulled off a major coup

Jordan, 19, who was the highest-placed driver of a BTC-spec car in this year's championship and took two podium finishes, will remain with the squad run by his father Mike, but will also receive as much technical assistance from Triple 8 as is allowed within the framework of the Independent's Championship.

"It's an amazing opportunity for me," the younger Jordan told autosport.com. "The Super 2000 Vectra is an awesome car - Fabrizio (Giovanardi) has shown that.

"The aim has got to be the Independents title now, and if we can challenge for overall race wins sometimes then that would be brilliant too."

Andrew's father Mike has decided to step down from driving duties in order to focus on the running of the team, which will field just the lone Vectra after running a pair of Honda Integras this year.

Jordan Sr leaves the BTCC with one win to his name from his 96 starts.

"I knew it was inevitable that one day I'd have to trade in my helmet for a headset, but I'm totally committed to helping Andrew get as far in his career as he possibly can," Mike said.
