Jacksons deny BTCC pull-out
Jacksons Motorsport have reaffirmed their commitment to racing in the British Touring Car Championship next year, despite the withdrawal of main sponsor Accident Exchange
Reports earlier in the week had suggested that the team, which ran driver Mat Jackson to five wins and second in the drivers' championship this season, would pull out of the BTCC due to the financial impact of losing the sponsor.
But team principal Tony Jackson confirmed that while the BMW Dealer Team UK name - which the squad operated under in 2008 - would be dropped, Jacksons Motorsport is likely to remain on the grid next season.
"It's business as usual for us," said Jackson. "We were there before Accident Exchange under our own team banner in 2007 and we intend to be there again.
"It's of course unfortunate that we have lost Accident Exchange due to the current economic climate. It has been a very beneficial sponsor and we'd like to thank the company for all it's done for us in enabling Mat and the team to challenge for race wins and the BTCC title in 2008."
