Collard annoyed with 'crazy' Jelley

WSR driver Jelley tipped Collard's Motorbase Performance BMW into a spin at Graham Hill Bend after running along the grass from the exit of the previous corner at Druids. Giovanardi took to the grass at Graham Hill to avoid the incident.

Collard, who had earlier taken victory in the second race, said Jelley's move was never on.

"I can't believe Stephen," Collard told AUTOSPORT. "He just seems to have been too pumped up. He must be crazy to think that he can go around the outside of me and Matt Neal around the outside of Druids. Does he just think we're going to wave him through?

"Obviously, I'm going to come out to the left on the exit of the corner, because that's the line - so he's really compromised himself by putting his car there. Then he comes down the hill, driving on the grass with his foot flat in, banging into me, thinking he's going to come by. You know that's never a move.

"I'm just really disappointed, because that's taken away a potentially good result for me, and for him."

Jelley, who secured a career-best fourth place in race two with a mature drive, had his own version of events.

"Jason Plato had a bit of a moment at Paddock, which bunched everyone up," he told AUTOSPORT. "Everyone queued up on the inside at Druids and so I went for the gap on the outside, passed Rob, and got alongside Matt Neal.

"As I came around the corner, Matt had the line, but then Rob came across on me and pushed me onto the grass and wouldn't let me back on, so all I could do was stay on the grass as we went down to Graham Hill.

"Then there was the contact at the corner, which wrecked by front wheel. When you're on the grass, there's a limit to what you can do."
