Super Nova also commits to Auto GP
Super Nova has become the latest GP2 team to announce that it will add an Auto GP programme for 2010
The new Auto GP series will replace Euro 3000 next year and is designed as a GP2 feeder class. It is run by former F1 team boss Enzo Coloni, and has already attracted entries from the DAMS team.
Super Nova has been a consistent race-winner in GP2 and took its drivers to several championships in predecessor series Formula 3000. It also ran the Team Germany squad that dominated the second A1GP series with Nico Hulkenberg.
Coloni said Super Nova's decision was another key endorsement of Auto GP.
"We are really happy to have Super Nova in the championship," he said. "They believe in the Auto GP formula and in our project, and we are proud of having one of the most winning teams in the F3000 and GP2 history. Besides that, we think that the big news we announced in the last days can give a clear idea of the top quality racing we'll see in 2010."
Super Nova boss David Sears explained that Auto GP's use of Lola chassis had played a big part in its decision. The 2010 Auto GP car is based on Lola's original A1GP machine.
"We are really looking forward to a new challenge with Auto GP," said Sears. "We think that having won four F3000 championships with Lola products and a fifth championship with A1GP, we understand these cars and can provide a platform for drivers to learn with high powered machinery before graduating to GP2.
"Auto GP represents incredible value and includes an astounding prize fund of €1.2 million."
