Tarquini: Porto will suit SEAT
Gabriele Tarquini believes that the Porto street circuit will suit SEAT more than some of the recent tracks have
The Spanish squad have struggled to get on terms with BMW in recent races, but Tarquini is not expecting the Leons to suffer on the twisty Portuguese track.
SEAT believe that they have several disadvantages with their car regarding the aerodynamics of their car and their weight limits in comparison to BMW, but Tarquini believes that those issues will be less of a problem at the next race.
"Like all city circuits, aerodynamics is not so important and neither is the weight handicap," said the Italian. "So I think we could do very well in Porto.
"Some corners look very slow, and unlike Pau the track seems to have very smooth asphalt and no kerbs."
Tarquini's teammate Jordi Gene is less optimistic, although he did admit that he is expecting the track to throw up a few surprise results.
"I think Porto will be a surprise for everyone, as no one has raced there before," said Gene. "It's difficult to know who will have the best car there until after qualifying."
