Donington 2: Jorg Muller strikes back
Alfa Romeo might have dominated the opening ETCC race at Donington Park today (Sunday), but BMW struck back in the second as Jorg Muller took victory
Having finished fourth in the opening race, J Muller rocketed into second position at the start behind BMW privateer Duncan Huisman, and Jorg picked his moment at the Esses to take the lead. First race winner Gabriele Tarquini (Alfa) was punted off at the first corner by Fabrizio Giovanardi (BMW), while Dirk Muller, in the second of the Schnitzer BMWs, was shoved on to the grass on the run to Redgate and was also involved in the exit of Tarquini.
J Muller was never seriously challenged and took a dominant win ahead of Huisman. The private Alfa of Paolo Ruberti was on course for third, but dropped to eighth as he toured across the finish line. Roberto Colciago (Alfa) leapt from eighth to fourth in one crazy corner-cutting move at the Esses which earned him a drive-through penalty. That left the battle for what became third between Nicola Larini (Alfa) and the Volvo of Rickard Rydell, with Rickard gaining the spot with an aggressive move at Melbourne.
Andy Priaulx bounced back from his first race problems to take a solid fifth place in his home round.
