Bigger gap between races in '07

World Touring Car Championship organisers have announced that there will be more time between the two races at each event for 2007

Since 2002, when the series was the European Touring Car Championship, the races have run back-to-back, but in most cases they will be separated by three hours this year.

One of the reasons behind the decision is the new single-seater championship 'Formula Master' which will support the WTCC.

Jacque Behar, president of series promoter KSO said: "We have decided to stretch the gap between the races because we want to give spectators a more varied show.

"Whenever possible, we'll have the first WTCC race at the end of the morning, and the second one early in the afternoon.

"These will be the highlights of our events, but the interest of the crowd will be kept alive in between by the new Formula Master."

Despite the longer gap between races, parc ferme rules will not change for 2007, which means that the teams still only have 15 minutes to carry out repairs between the two races.
