SS14, Colle d'Ogia 1: Panizzi bites back
Gilles Panizzi's response to Sebastien Loeb's fastest time on SS13 was to finish SS14 almost seven seconds quicker than his fellow countryman. But the accolade of the fastest time, however, went to Ford's Carlos Sainz, completing the 15.19km Colle d'Oggia 1 test in 10m04.3s
It's the first time a Ford has topped the timesheets in this year's Sanremo. But in the overall standings Panizzi now extends his lead to just over half a minute from the Citroen Xsara driver following Loeb's fourth fastest time on the stage.
Markko Martin made a surprise entry to the top of the timesheets. He's been way down the order since Saturday morning, but fought back with the third fastest time on SS14. Behind Loeb, Renato Trevaglia came through Colle d'Ogia in fifth. The Italian moves back to fifth overall following Sainz's stage win.
Sainz' team mate Francois Delecour was sixth fastest and now moves ahead of Marcus Gronholm's Peugeot to secure sixth place overall. He has a 37-second advantage over the Finn as Gronholm lost another minute to the leaders as he struggles with a power steering problem. He'll be hoping his Peugeot crew can rectify the fault at service.
