McRae tips Burns for Rally GB win

World Rally ace Colin McRae has declared rival Richard Burns the favourite to triumph on this weekends Rally of Great Britain

The Ford Focus driver has won the event three times in the past, but believes that he will be unable to challenge the dominance of the Peugeot 206 Burns drives.

Speaking to The Sun McRae said: "I've got to be realistic and if I was going to have a bet I'd put my cash on Richard. He's driving a Peugeot and they are currently the fastest car in the field. Richard is going to be hard to beat."

Burns, who has also won the Rally GB on three occasions, agrees with McRae. "People say it's the Battle of Britain, but the only thing that motivates me is winning," he said to The People. "I know I can win this rally if I drive to my best ability. Colin is a three-time winner and he'll win it again - but not this year."

However, both McRae and Burns will have to contend with the Englishman's Peugeot team-mate Marcus Gronholm. The Finn has won already won five events this season on his way to the world championship. Burns in particular is determined to beat Gronholm on the final rally of the season. "I haven't won a rally this year and I've been a bit disappointed that I've made life easier for Marcus than I wanted to," he said.
