McRae hoping for Argentina win

Colin McRae is looking to take his first win of the year, and first victory for the Citroen team, on the Rally Argentina, the fifth round of the WRC which takes place this weekend

The Scot is the only one of Citroen's three drivers not to have taken a victory so far this year, but McRae is hopeful that a strong test at the end of last month, and the fast but rugged nature of the rally will aid him in his victory quest.

"We weren't allowed to test on site, so our preparation work saw us sift through the solutions for a number of events," said McRae. "We concentrated on those areas of the car that we know need improving and we validated the final settings for Argentina in a session at the end of April. I'm pleased with the result but, as always when you don't actually test on site, you essentially define a basic set-up which you then check during shakedown and fine-tune during the rally as required."

McRae believes that the Argentina roads will suit his style. "The stages in Argentina are very good and you can attack hard all the time without having to worry too much about your lines," he said. "Your driving style has to be quite aggressive and that suits me fine. Overall, it's a fast rally but it can be bumpy in places.

"Argentina is a difficult rally. It is possible to make an error and damage something on the car. Even so, I think we can win, if we have a little luck at the right time and in the right place."
