Teams call for rule changes
World rallying's team bosses have called on the sport's governing body, the FIA, to clarify any rule changes on driver line-ups for next season quickly enough to allow them time to react, reports this week's AUTOSPORT magazine
The FIA has been widely tipped to force teams to employ and nominate a third driver who has yet to take a win on a round of the World Rally Championship.
But no confirmation of the decision has been released and teams are growing impatient to finalise driver line-ups. Peugeot, for example, would be forced to replace Harri Rovanpera and Gilles Panizzi in its third car if the new rule is introduced.
"We can't wait until November for this sort of thing," said Subaru team principal David Lapworth. "It has obvious implications for the driver market, so we need to know what's happening."
But FIA Rallies Commission president Shekhar Mehta said: "The ball is in the manufacturers' court and I'm sure that there could still be a long debate about this."
