Gronholm relishing title battle
Marcus Gronholm believes that his tight battle for the World Rally Championship with Sebastien Loeb will be the perfect way for him to end his career
The Finn is four points ahead of reigning world champion Loeb with two rounds remaining, and he is looking forward to their fight this weekend in Ireland.
"I'm really excited about the end of the season," said Gronholm. "Fighting for world titles in the drivers' and manufactures' championships is a great position to be in.
"To win both would be the most fantastic way to end my career. Of course, it's not that easy."
Gronholm admitted he thought that he had thrown the title away when he crashed during the first day of Rally Japan, but an error from Loeb's co-driver Daniel Elena kept the Finn at the top of the standings.
However, the 39-year-old added that the Japanese event proved how easy it is to throw away points.
"Things change quickly in this sport so nobody in the team is taking anything for granted," he said.
"There are two rallies remaining and we have to be as strong and professional as we have been all season."
