Brundle diary: Day 2, the forest challenge
Former Grand Prix driver Martin Brundle's rallying adventure came to an abrupt halt two stages from the end of Day 2
'We came over a crest 3kms into the stage. I was on the left-hand side, but should have been on the right-hand side. We landed nose first into a ditch. The crowd were great, and lifted me back onto the road, but there was a lot of damage. We tried to get to service, but the car cried 'enough'.'
'This morning I started way too cautiously. I knew Radnor would be tough, and I really wasn't sure where the limit was, especially between the log piles, where any mistake is very costly. So for me, Radnor was really poor.
'But after that we were picking up speed. Arne was pushing me quite hard, telling me to go quicker. I wanted to stay within my limits -- which I promised myself I would do. Really, I'd love to do this quietly, but I know people are watching me. But I've had great support, people accepting the spirit that I'm taking this on... The support has been great.'
