Oliver Turvey joins Jota for European Le Mans Series
McLaren factory driver Oliver Turvey will move into the prototype ranks this year with the British Jota team
Turvey will race an LMP2 Zytek-Nissan Z11SN in the five-race European Le Mans Series and, presuming the team secures entries, the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Spa FIA World Endurance Championship race.
The 2006 McLaren AUTOSPORT BRDC Award winner will share the car with team regular Simon Dolan in the ELMS, while an as-yet-unsigned driver will join them for Spa and Le Mans.
Team boss Sam Hignett said: "Oliver is quick and has the right ingredients to become a top endurance driver: he is intelligent and technically strong.
"We didn't have the chance to give him a test, but we have no doubts that he is the right man for the job. He was top of our list."
Turvey, who has roles with McLaren's Formula 1 and GT operations, said: "I'm really looking forward to getting out in a prototype and doing a full championship in sportscars.
"Hopefully, we'll have the chance to get out at Le Mans; it's a race every driver wants to do and one I've followed it for a long time."
Turvey said there was still a possibility of him racing a McLaren MP4-12C in 2013. He undertook three races in the car during its development year in 2011.
