Aston Martin announces Academy members for WEC GTE Pro test

Six members of Aston Martin's Evolution Academy young driver scheme will get a first outing aboard the British manufacturer's Vantage GTE in Bahrain World Endurance Championship testing this month

One of the six, who have been chosen from the 10 members of the scheme in its inaugural season in 2015, will be awarded a factory contract on the basis of their performances over the course of this year and in the test.

The drivers chosen to try out in the GTE car during the official WEC rookie test the day after the Bahrain series finale on November 21 are Matt Bell, Dan Lloyd, Ross Gunn, Jamie Chadwick, Jody Fannin and Devon Modell.

AMR team principal John Gaw told Autosport: "These are the ones who have impressed us this year, and it has not just been about what they have done on the track.

"The driver we chose will get a factory contract a bit like Jonny Adam had in the past.

"We won't be putting them straight into the WEC, but they will be placed with one of our customer teams with a view to moving up to our GTE Pro line-up in the future."

The Evolution Academy was open to drivers under 25 who would be competing in Aston Martin machinery in 2015.

The chosen 10 were each assigned a AMR factory driver as a mentor, worked with AMR engineers and spent time on the simulator over the course of the season.
