Todd Kelly joins Jack Daniel's Racing

Todd Kelly will drive for Jack Daniel's Racing in 2008, the team announced today

Kelly, who won the final race of 2007 for the Holden Racing Team, will take over Jack Perkins' place in the team, and will drive alongside youngster Shane Price in the Larry Perkins-owned team.

"A number of things are being considered at HRT which has enabled me to explore all the available options, and after 10 fantastic years I have decided it was time to accept a new challenge," Kelly said about his move.

"I couldn't be more excited; there's huge potential in Jack Daniel's Racing and Larry has offered me the opportunity to be more involved with the team and cars - which is what I really enjoy."

Team boss Larry Perkins is happy to see Kelly join the team: "Todd is a driver who has a rare mix of experience and technical ability and we are very happy to sign him.

"He's someone who can contribute to the team and its performance both on and off the track, and he's excited about working with us. I think he'll fit in perfectly."

Kelly has been in the Holden family the whole of his V8 Supercar life. He began with the Holden Young Lions, before moving to K-Mart Racing, both teams closely associated with the factory Holden Racing Team, which he moved to in 2003.

He has driven the last five years for HRT, during which time he finished ahead of teammate (and team owner) Mark Skaife in the title race for the last four seasons. His time at Holden Racing Team included a victory at the Bathurst 1000 in 2005 alongside Skaife.

Kelly's departure is expected to set off a number of drivers changes in other teams, particularly among Holden ranks. His place at Holden Racing Team is expected to be filled by 2007 series champion Garth Tander, while Tander's replacement at Toll HSV is much less clear.

One driver who will be moving to Holden but is almost certain to drive elsewhere is Russell Ingall, who announced recently he will be leaving Ford after five years. He is expected to join Paul Morris in Morris's second car.
