Skaife wins race 1
Mark Skaife continues to rack up race wins with victory in the first race of the SkyCity V8 Supercar Triple Crown at Hidden Valley Raceway
Skaife ran second in the early stages before taking over at the front when pole sitter and early leader Jason Bright suffered a flat left front tyre.
Skaife had to worry about Rick Kelly in the closing stages, who moved ahead of teammate Garth Tander during the pit stops and closed in on the leader as the laps wound down.
Mark Winterbottom completed the podium as he held off Craig Lowndes and Garth Tander after the pit stops.
Jason Bright's trouble was compounded as the tyre failed at the start of the lap, Bright having to limp nearly a complete lap back before the tyre could be replaced.
What looked like being a race win, ended as a 24th place finish. The only small piece of good news for Bright is he will start eighth in tomorrow's reverse-grid race two...
