Rick Kelly fastest in qualifying

Kelly, who currently sits second in the championship, leads a provisional Toll HSV Dealer Team front row, with teammate Garth Tander setting the second fastest time, just ahead of Ford Performance Racing's Mark Winterbottom.

Fourth is filled by Rick's older brother Todd from the Holden Racing Team, while Winterbottom's teammate Jason Bright rounds out the top five.

Triple Eight's Craig Lowndes, who won this event last year, won the previous round at Bathurst and currently has a 101 point lead in the championship, struggled a little on his way to eighth fastest, just over a second off Kelly's blistering pace, and a place behind his own teammate Jamie Whincup.

After topping the times at Bathurst, Holden Racing Team's Mark Skaife hasn't fared as well on the streets, setting the 13th fastest time.

This weekend's field is one car short following Team Kiwi's absence, after their car crashed at Bathurst and then was cut apart to rescue Paul Radisich safely from the car.

The team intends to return at the next round, while a driver to replace Radisich, who will not race again this season, has yet to be announced.
