Montreal preparations going well

NASCAR Busch Series officials are confident that they are on course with their preparations for their first visit to Canada next year

The second-tier championship will race on Montreal's Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in August, and series director Joe Balash is happy with the progress being made.

"Our ultimate goal is putting on a great race up there," he said, "and we're very comfortable with the progress being made."

One of the main issues with the circuit is the size of the pitlane, as the field will be twice the size of a Formula One grid.

Some teams will not be able to work in the F1-style garages in the pits, but Balash doesn't expect it to cause many problems.

"They have very nice garages, but it's to accommodate a smaller number of cars," he said.

"Right now I think they have 38 bays. We will probably use a couple of those for inspection, and put our points leaders in the remaining bays.

"With the rest we will do like we do at many tracks - they will work from the garage area during the practice sessions."
