Montoya to quit Busch racing

Juan Pablo Montoya will compete in his final Busch Series event of the year at Watkins Glen International, as he and his team focus on the Nextel Cup for the remainder of the season

The Colombian has thus far competed in 16 of 22 events of the Busch Series, using most races as a chance to get additional track time at new venues, where he also competes in the NASCAR Nextel Cup on the same weekend.

Autosport.com understands that Chip Ganassi Racing agreed with Montoya's car main sponsor Texaco/Havoline to focus on their Nextel Cup effort and transfer their Busch budget for the rest of the season into the Cup programme.

Montoya took his maiden NASCAR victory at Mexico in a Busch Series race in March, and will be on double duty for the last time at Watkins Glen weekend, competing for the both in the Busch Series and Nextel Cup events.

He will not be racing at Montreal this weekend, focusing on his Cup race at Pocono, while the No. 42 car will be driven by Canadian Michael Valiante at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve during the Busch Series race.
