Stewart fined for Indy quotes
As expected, NASCAR has fined Allstate 400 at the Brickyard winner Tony Stewart for using inappropriate language while speaking on TV following his victory on Sunday
Stewart has been fined US $25,000 and deducted 25 NASCAR Nextel Cup Series driver championship points as a result of his words during a post-race televised interview at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
"This one is for everyone in the stands who pull for me and have to take all the bullshit from everyone else," Stewart said to ESPN on Sunday, giving NASCAR enough reason to punish him as they did three years ago with Dale Earnhardt Jr for a similar incident at Talladega.
In addition, Stewart's car owner, Joe Gibbs, has been penalised 25 car owner championship points because of the infraction, which is the second for Stewart this year.
He was previously fined and put on probation for failing to attend a post-race press conference at Phoenix.
Despite the point's deduction, Stewart remains fifth in the Nextel Cup driver standings with 2599 points, comfortably in the top-twelve who make the Chase for the championship.
