Keselowski gets part-time Cup seat

NASCAR Nationwide Series front-runner Brad Keselowski is set to compete in seven Sprint Cup events in 2009, Hendrick Motorsports announced today

The 24-year-old, who ranked third in the Nationwide Series last season, winning races at Nashville and Bristol, will attempt to qualify Hendrick's No.25 Chevrolet at Las Vegas in March, and will then enter another six events throughout the year.

He will also make another bid for the title in the second-tier series with JR Motorsports.

"It's exciting to have everything finalised and ready to go for 2009," said Keselowski. "We're going to some tracks where I'm pretty confident, and we're going to some places where I really need the additional seat time.

"I'm especially excited about going to Michigan. The track isn't far from Rochester Hills, and it's going to be really cool to race in front of all my family and friends. All the tracks we're going to are great, but that one will definitely be a highlight for me.

"It's a nice mix of races and a great opportunity for the whole GoDaddy.com team."

Keselowski, who is expected to move to the Sprint Cup full-time in 2010 as a rookie, made his debut in the premiere series last year at Texas, finishing a respectable 19th. He also competed in the season-finale at Homestead, bringing the car home in 23rd place.
