Keselowski cleared to race
NASCAR Busch Series driver Brad Keselowski has been cleared to race at Richmond this weekend after medical checks revealed he was uninjured following his massive accident last Saturday at Fontana
Keselowski hit the SAFER barrier at high speed after being tapped on the right rear of his No 88. Chevrolet by AJ Allmendinger, who was spinning after making contact with JJ Yeley.
He had to be carried out of his wrecked car and was later put on a stretcher, as he had pain in his right foot. Later he was airlifted to Loma Linda Medical Center where he underwent CT scanning and X-rays on his head, left ankle and chest, all of which were negative.
Following standard NASCAR procedure, Keselowski was also examined by Dr. Jerry Petty for NASCAR Competition. He underwent an MRI exam and saw Petty again Tuesday before being cleared to race on Saturday at Richmond.
"I just have to comment California Speedway for installing the SAFER wall and NASCAR and other parties for developing it," Keselowski said. "I hit the wall pretty hard but thanks to the SAFER wall and all the safety equipment I use, I was able to escape injury."
The 23-year-old will drive JR Motorsports entry for the remainder of the year, having taking the drive from Shane Huffman at Chicagoland. He has competed in six races for Dale Earnhardt Jr's team, a seventh place at Bristol as his best result.
