Green fastest on day 3 at Daytona

Jeff Green made it three days in a row for Chevrolet at the top of the speed charts, after heading Wednesday testing at Daytona with the fastest lap set so far this week at the NASCAR Jackson Hewitt Preseason Thunder testing

Green topped the afternoon session with a lap of 186.722 mph, set in a drafting run. Dale Jarrett set the week's fastest lap so far for Toyota in the No. 44 UPS Toyota, drafting to 186.517 and showing clear signs of improvement after struggling on Tuesday.

"The first time out it wasn't very good, but we made some changes and it responded to that and we got the car driving much better to where it could keep up and suck up in the draft," said Jarrett.

Tony Raines was third fastest in the No. 96 Hall of Fame Chevrolet, being also the most consistent runner of the week, setting top-three speeds every day since testing started Monday.

"We have one car in qualifying trim and one car we've been drafting with," he said. "The car in qualifying trim seems to be driving better, and I hope we bring that one for the race. It's stacking up pretty well against some of the other good cars. We're excited about that."

PJ Jones was the fastest Ford in fifth, replacing Robby Gordon who is taking part in the Dakar Rally.

Other drivers filling in on Wednesday were Mike McLaughlin, who again drove the No. 20 Home Depot Chevy, normally run by Tony Stewart, setting the fastest lap of the morning session.

Kerry Earnhardt also stepped in for his brother Dale in the No. 8 Bud car.

Tomorrow, the final testing session of the week will take place in the morning as compensation for the session that was rained-out on Monday.
