Busch taken out in Daytona pile-up
Long-time Daytona 500 leader Kyle Busch has been taken out in a multi-car pile-up with 76 laps to go
The accident was triggered when lapped drivers Brian Vickers and Dale Earnhardt Jr made contact as they battled amongst the front-running cars, sending Vickers spearing back across the course and into Robby Gordon.
Ten cars were caught up in the ensuing tangle, including champion Jimmie Johnson and his main rival Carl Edwards, but it was Busch who came off worst. The Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota driver had led 88 laps - by far the highest number of the race - before sustaining severe front-end damage in the crash, ending his afternoon.
"Some guys having some bad days and not doing their best out there, made their bad day our bad day," said Busch. "It's just unfortunate that two guys got together who were a lap down and fighting over nothing."
Johnson lost a lap in the incident, with Edwards falling to the tail of the lead lap.
Elliott Sadler now leads the race ahead of Reed Sorenson, both drivers having pitted just before a previous caution came out, with Matt Kenseth in third.
