Busch is back of the grid at Pocono

Kyle Busch had his first major hiccup on his triple-duty NASCAR weekend when he crashed during practice at Pocono on Saturday, forcing him to go to his back up car for Sunday's race

Busch lost control of his car on the exit of the resurfaced turn three and ended up smashing the wall and causing enough damage to be forced to withdraw his primary car and loose his tenth place on the starting grid.

"It's just part of racing," said Steve Addington, Kyle Busch's crew chief. "The car got a little bit loose off [Turn 3] and then he tried to just turn down pit road and spun out and tore the front end up on the car."

The Sprint Cup points' leader had a long night at Texas on Friday where he had finished second in the Craftsman Truck Series race and with his Cup practice starting early on Saturday morning there wasn't probably the ideal amount of rest for him.

However, his crew chief said that had nothing to do with the incident in the day's first practice session.

"It wasn't nothing that has anything to do with his racing in Texas, Pocono and Nashville," Addington added. "I talked to him [Saturday] morning and he was fine. He got plenty of rest [Friday] night."

Besides Busch, who ran 16th fastest in the final practice on his back up machine, Sam Hornish Jr hit the wall also, although during the last practice session. The Penske rookie has switched to his back up as well and thus will start behind Busch.

"The car has been not very good so far this weekend and we were fighting it being really loose," Hornish said. "We were trying to do everything we could to get it out of it. It was a matter of time so I guess it was better today than tomorrow but I don't know.

"We'll keep working away at it. It's unfortunate."

Carl Edwards topped both practice sessions on Saturday at Pocono.
