Stoner warns against more night races
Qatar GP winner Casey Stoner is wary of too many night races appearing on the calendar after the sport's first event held under floodlights last weekend
One of the main problems the riders faced in Qatar was the cool temperatures during the night, which made warming up the tyres harder than during the day.
The race took place at 23.00 local time.
And although world champion Stoner enjoyed the night time race, he says having many events under floodlights would make the racing less challenging.
"For sure we can improve these conditions just a little bit more by making a couple of corners a bit brighter," said Stoner.
"The problem is that if we do this here and in Malaysia we take out the two hot races of the year and then there are no more really physical races left and maybe this takes something out of the racing.
"But it's fun to do it at night time and for the spectators too it's a little bit different."
Sepang has expressed an interest in having a floodlight race, but as yet nothing has been confirmed.
