Stoner plans to keep pushing for wins

Casey Stoner insists that he will maintain his aggressive push for more race victories in MotoGP this season, despite his massive lead in the points standing

The Ducati Marlboro rider is clear favourite to win the championship this year, after opening up a 60-points margin over Valentino Rossi thanks to his seventh victory of the season at Brno.

But despite that advantage meaning he can now take it easy in the final six races to secure the points he needs for the title, the Australian has vowed to keep focused solely on going for more wins.

"I am still going out there trying to win races," said Stoner. "All of us are here to win races, not only championships. We are all out there fighting for every point we can.

"We knew we had the package at Brno and could have sat back really easily. But we knew we had a better package that anyone else for the race and I had to try and push through.

"When we do come out with victories like this then the points advantage comes up even more. When you focus on things race-by-race things come up a bit easier."

Stoner is eager to make the most of this week's post-race test at Brno to try and eek out even more performance from his GP7 bike ahead of the next race at Misano.

"It is going to be very interesting going there," explained Stoner. "It is a pretty bumpy circuit, maybe a little bit small for MotoGP bikes, but it should be a good race.

"We have a few things to test, tyres and things like that, and I am looking forward to it. I want to make sure we have the equipment going into the last part of the season.

"We have a good package at the moment and if we can improve it, then it is going to be great going into the last rounds."
