Manufacturers urged to help privateers

Several teams have been struggling for funding this season, and Montiron feels that the manufacturers can play a big role in keeping private teams on the grid.

"In the last few years MotoGP has seen an escalation in term of popularity and cost," said Montiron. "Basically the MotoGP world has not been able enough to follow this escalation."

Montiron added that he was satisfied with the situation of his own team because they have a title sponsor, but he is concerned for the other teams on the grid.

"We have a topic here that needs time to be dealt with and really needs the collaboration of all the parties involved," he said.

"For many years the private teams were in a comfortable situation but now it is the moment for everybody to invest in the future,

"I think it is a rule for everybody, if the income is not sufficient, it's necessary to consider how to reduce costs."

Montiron is hoping that the manufacturers will understand the needs of the private teams as well, rather than just concentrating on their own situation.

"The main problem at the moment is for the private teams who have to survive in this period," he said. "For the manufacturers this isn't a big problem.

"For a private team it is difficult to open a dialogue with the manufacturer because both parties have different needs.

"I think that the manufacturer can reduce the machine rental cost and also reduce the number of winter tests."

Montiron praised MotoGP organisers Dorna for their efforts to help teams this year, and he added that he now hopes that the teams will be able to work closely with the series bosses to put a long-term plan together
