Lorenzo hails latest 'tough' victory

Jorge Lorenzo described his seventh win of the MotoGP season, at Brno on Sunday, as a 'really tough' race after the world championship leader recovered from a spectacular qualifying crash to maintain his grip on the 2010 season

The 23-year-old Majorcan, who dominated the 22-lap race from the first lap onwards said that he had to rebuild his confidence in the front of his Yamaha M1 after the accident, and contend with windy conditions, en route to a comfortable win over Honda rival Dani Pedrosa.

"I made quite a good start and also in the second/third corner I was in the first position so I decided to try and push the maximum," he said afterwards.

"I knew it was a very difficult race because there was a lot of wind and also the front tyre slid a lot.

"Anyway when I saw +0.03 to Dani on my pitboard, I pushed more and I made myself a victory."

Lorenzo, who celebrated his win by running over to the adjacent golf course and attempting a putt on a green, added to the BBC: "I couldn't put the ball in the hole but at least I could win this race.

"It was very difficult, because yesterday I crashed so I didn't have so much confidence on the front but the wind has been more difficult for all the riders. But when my mechanics show me that board, I thought maybe if I can be a little bit faster I can go away and I tried and I made it and it's fantastic."
