Checa fastest in second practice
Carlos Checa led a Spanish one-two-three in the second MotoGP practice session at Jerez on Friday
The session was also a good one for Honda, as Checa, Dani Pedrosa and Toni Elias made sure that the Japanese manufacturer occupied the top three places.
However, it wasn't a perfect session for Honda, as the next RC212V was down in 12th place with Marco Melandri, while reigning world champion Nicky Hayden continued to struggle with the new bike and finished the session in 13th.
Championship leader Casey Stoner was fourth fastest for Ducati, while his teammate and last year's winner at the Spanish track, Loris Capirossi, was only 11th.
Valentino Rossi was fifth quickest on his Yamaha, with this morning's pacesetter Kenny Roberts Jr sixth fastest.
Just 1.6 seconds covered the entire field by the end of the afternoon session, while less than one second covered the top 15 bikes.
