Capirossi wants future decision by Assen

Loris Capirossi has told Ducati that he wants a decision from them about their 2008 rider plans by next weekend's Dutch Grand Prix

The Italian has struggled to get himself comfortable on the team's GP7 bike, and has only finished on the podium once with third place in Turkey.

With Kawasaki having made an offer to the Italian to lead their team next year, Capirossi says he is keen to understand from Ducati what their plans are for 2008 so he can sort out his future quickly.

"I spoke with Ducati and I have to understand in Assen what Ducati want to do," Capirossi told autosport.com. "If the intention from Ducati is to continue with me, for me it is not too bad.

"But for me I want that Ducati want me, and not only because I have been five years with Ducati and they offer me something because it is normal like that.

"I want Ducati to think, 'okay, for sure it is really important to have Loris and this is the contract for next year'."

Although Capirossi has struggled to find form on the GP7, with his aggressive riding style not perfectly suited to the characteristics of the Ducati engine, he is adamant he wants to remain in MotoGP next year.

"My thinking is clear, I want to continue racing 100 percent," he said. "I don't want to stop like that. I have an offer from Kawasaki, everybody knows that, and for sure my decision is coming really soon."

And Capirossi insists that his motivation has not taken a battering by the difficulties he has faced in 2007.

"I think the good part of my character is that my motivation is still 100 percent. I don't care about my teammate, he is really quick and one of the best at the moment, but I have strong motivation.

"I feel so well in this moment, I try to do my best and while it continues like that it is good. I don't want to come here only for riding; I want to come here only to win. That is my best motivation."
