Capirossi sure resurgence will continue

Loris Capirossi is confident that his improved form will continue at Laguna Seca this weekend

After struggling to get to grips with Ducati's 800cc bike and trailing teammate Casey Stoner all year, Capirossi took a season-best second place at last week's German Grand Prix.

He chose a unique Bridgestone compound and maintained a strong pace as the other riders on the Japanese tyres, including Stoner, slipped down the order.

But Capirossi believes the main factor in his performance was that the Ducati is now more to his liking.

"I think we have found a good direction with my revised engine spec and different weight distribution," he said.

"This latest spec engine gives me a really good feeling, it's nice and progressive, which is good for my riding style.

"At Laguna we plan to start with both bikes using the same set-up we ran in Germany."

Capirossi is not concerned by Ducati's poor recent record at the Californian circuit.

"Laguna was our worst track last year and the year before, but the situation is very different now - the bike is better and the tyres are much better, so I'm quite confident," he said.
