Toseland vows to fight for his ride

The Briton's best result so far in 2009 is a sixth place at Assen and he currently lies 14th in the riders' points table, while his team-mate Colin Edwards is fifth.

But while the likes of World Superbike sensation Ben Spies and 250cc championship contender Alvaro Bautista have been linked to a switch to Tech 3, Toseland is determined to fight for his place on the grid.

"I want to keep my job," he said in the pre-British Grand Prix press conference at Donington. "A lot of people want my job, because it's a good job, a very good job.

"But if they want it they are going to have to prise my hands from the handlebars because I'm going to give it my best shot."

Toseland admitted that his year had not been to his liking so far, but said that input from the factory had helped turn things around for Tech 3 at Assen and hoped the squad could maintain its renewed form.

"It's been a frustrating season so far obviously with one thing and another but the potential is there for me to get a good result, especially here at my home race," he said. "We had a bit of help from Yamaha in Germany and now I am looking forward to riding the bike here in Donington.

We had a good result in Assen and I want to keep that consistency going... I know I need to show that consistency to keep my ride for next year."

Toseland added that the Donington fans had been vociferous in their support for him.

"I'm grateful for all the support I am getting here. As I say it is a frustrating year, it's frustrating for me and I even know what is going on in the garage so for people that don't the inside of the situation it must be even worse for them so to keep their support is a nice thing."
