De Puniet confident of more speed
Randy de Puniet thinks his LCR Honda team can still improve on their single lap pace, despite topping the times for the second day running during MotoGP testing in Sepang
The Frenchman has outpaced the title favourites during the first test of 2008 and, having been delighted with the long run pace of his RC212V bike, he is now looking for improvements over a single lap.
"It was another positive day for me and the team," said de Puniet at the end of the day. "We continued our development of the new bike and, at the end of the day, we lapped a race simulation with consistent and fast laptimes.
"It was the first long run for me on this bike and I feel quite satisfied about it.
"There are still some aspects to improve, especially on qualifiers. I know that I can go faster with soft tyres, so tomorrow we will test three rear soft tyres and the new front one with Michelin support."
De Puniet said he suffered no injuries as a result of a fall in the afternoon just after the start of one of his race simulation runs.
