Barros aims to benefit from top speed

MotoGP veteran Alex Barros is hopeful that his Pramac D'Antin team will make the most of their straightline speed advantage in next weekend's Italian Grand Prix in Mugello

The Brazilian, who finished fourth in this year's Turkish Grand Prix, believes that the team are in a position to be able to exploit the impressive top speed of their GP7 bikes.

"The most important thing is that my team continue to work in a positive way," said Barros about the Mugello event.

"In fact, during the two previous races, we obtained a perfect set-up with the Bridgestone-Ducati package, but unfortunately the race didn't give us the deserved result.

"I hope that in Mugello, everything will be perfect. The track is really adapted to Ducati bike, we have to make the best use of the engine potential that we have."

Teammate Alex Hofmann, who scored his best MotoGP finish with fifth in France last weekend, is fired up for a similar performance this time out.

"The wonderful race that I had in Le Mans has given me further enthusiasm for the race in Mugello," he said. "The track is one of my favourites, very fast and flowing, and it is perfect for our Desmosedici.

"In my opinion the Mugello race is one of the most exciting of the championship. There is always a special atmosphere and each year thousands of passionate fans cheer us on which gives me an extra motivation. My focus is to confirm our performance level in France by finishing in the top ten."
