Stefan Bradl leaves Forward Racing MotoGP team amid Aprilia talk

Stefan Bradl has been released from his Forward Racing contract amid the team's difficulties and is tipped to join Aprilia for the rest of the 2015 MotoGP season

Forward will miss the next grand prix at Indianapolis as it regroups following the arrest of team boss Giovanni Cuzari.

Although it is determined to return to the championship in time for the subsequent Brno race, the team has agreed to allow Bradl to leave.

"Forward Racing and Stefan Bradl have reached an agreement by mutual consent to terminate the contractual obligations between the German rider and the Swiss team," said a statement.

"This difficult decision - the result of an agreement between the parties - has been taken in front of the concrete possibility for the rider to continue his participation in the world championship and to ensure and protect his sport activity and his interests."

The Gresini-run works Aprilia team parted with Marco Melandri prior to the last round at the Sachsenring and promoted test rider Michael Laverty in his place.

But the longer-term plan for the seat was left open, amid a clash between the final round of Laverty's British Superbike programme and MotoGP's Australian GP later in the year.

Reports in the German press this week had already linked Bradl with a move to Aprilia in time for Indy if he could agree terms with Forward.

Bradl missed the last race at the Sachsenring as he recovered from a hand injury sustained at Assen.

A regular top-10 finisher with LCR Honda through 2013 and '14, the 2012 Moto2 champion had struggled with Forward's Yamaha-based package so far this year and is currently only 19th in the championship.

His erstwhile team-mate Loris Baz has yet to announce his plans. Forward had already recalled its 2013 MotoGP rider Claudio Corti in Bradl's place for Germany.
