125cc: Corsi takes maiden pole at Estoril

Championship leader Simone Corsi took his maiden pole position for tomorrow's 125cc Portuguese Grand Prix

The Jack & Jones rider shot to the top of the timesheets midway through the 30-minute session with a lap of 1:46.083, and later improved on it twice, with his final time being a 1:45.367.

Steve Bonsey qualified second, a quarter of a second behind the Italian. The American Degraaf GP rider was followed by Spain's Nicolas Terol (Jack & Jones) and Briton Danny Webb (Degraaf GP) completing the front row.

Bancaja Aspar's Sergio Gadea will start the race from fifth spot, ahead of Belson Derbi's Joan Olive, Grizzly Gas Kiefer Racing's Stefan Bradl and Ajo Motorsport's Mike di Meglio.

The Frenchman suffered a crash at the chicane that saw him carried out of the gravel on a stretcher. While attempting to overtake another rider, di Meglio hit Spain's Ivan Maestro, who was going very slow near the racing line.

Starting from the third row will be reigning champion Gabor Talmacsi, along with Scott Redding, Tomoyoshi Koyama, and Andrea Iannone.

Briton Bradley Smith, who started the last two races from pole, will have to be content with the 13th slot on the grid.
