125cc: Pasini on provisional pole
Mattia Pasini has taken provisional pole for the 125cc event at Motegi this weekend by going fastest in the first qualifying session
Gabor Talmacsi was looking set to hold on to to the top spot, twice setting the fastest time in the last ten minutes of the session, before Pasini's effort knocked him off the top spot by 0.187 seconds after the chequered flag had fallen, with a time of 1:58.283.
Simone Corsi set the third fastest time, nearly half a second off Pasini's pace, with Tomoyoshi Koyama in fourth.
Championship contender Hector Faubel was next fastest in fifth position, with Lukas Pesek and Bradley Smith rounding out the riders within a second of provisional pole man Pasini.
