125cc: Talmacsi clinches dominant pole

Championship leader Gabor Talmacsi has claimed a dominant pole position for the Czech round of the 125cc series, having lapped six tenths of a second clear of his rivals in the second qualifying session

Until the final ten minutes it looked like local favourite Lukas Pesek's provisional pole time from Friday would be tough to beat, but then Talmacsi produced a 2:07.4 lap to beat Pesek by 0.8 seconds.

Hector Faubel then pushed Pesek back to third, just before Mattia Pasini came through to depose Talmacsi by a few fractions of a second.

The points leader soon responded, lapping in 2:06.861 and ensuring his fourth pole position of the 2007 season.

Pasini and Faubel retained second and third, with Tomoyoshi Koyama improving to fourth on the KTM with his final lap.

While Koyama was making progress up the order, his teammates Randy Krummenacher and Steve Bonsey both suffered falls late in the session. Krummenacher still qualified sixth despite sliding into the gravel after a low-side, while Bonsey had a vicious high-side under braking.

It took Pesek until the last lap of the half hour to improve on his Friday pole time, and even then he only went 0.001 seconds faster. He will start his home race from fifth.
