125cc: Pasini grabs provisional pole

Italian Mattia Pasini emerged on top of the times in the first qualifying session for the Spanish Grand Prix, securing the provisional pole position

The Aprilia rider, who retired from the first race of the season in Qatar, moved to the top of the timesheets with around two minutes of the session remaining, and stayed there despite the best of his rivals' efforts.

Pasini led an Aprilia one-two at Jerez, with Gabor Hungarian Talmacsi, pole-setter in Qatar, finishing in second place.

KTM's Tomoyoshi Koyama was third quickest, ahead of Lukas Pesek in the Derbi.

Championship leader Hector Faubel was only sixth quickest for the Aspar team, the Spanish rider finishing over a second behind Pasini after managing just five laps during the session.
