125cc: Faubel grabs provisional pole

Title contenders Hector Faubel and Gabor Talmacsi headed the field in Friday's 125cc qualifying session at Valencia

Faubel, who is 10 points adrift of the Hungarian in the standings, snatched top spot as both drivers improved with their final lap of the session.

Sergio Gadea was the only other rider to set a time close to the top two, as behind the Spaniard the rest of the field were at least half a second adrift of the provisional pole sitter.

Simone Corsi completed the provisional front row of the grid in fourth place, while his countryman Mattia Pasini led the second row.

Sandro Cortese was next up in sixth place, just ahead of Lukas Pesek, who will be hoping to snatch third place in the championship this weekend.

The Czech rider's slim chances of overhauling Tomoyoshi Koyama were given a boost though, as the Japanese rider could only manage 14th in Friday's session, 1.5 seconds adrift of pole.

Behind Pesek, Nicolas Terol completed the second row of the grid, while Pablo Nieto and Esteve Rabat made sure that five of the top 10 places were filled by Spanish riders on home soil.
