Moto2: Lorenzo keeps pole on damp track
Jorge Lorenzo will start from pole position for the 250cc Dutch Grand Prix after the track remained too damp for riders to improve their times in the Friday session
The downpour that had struck near the end of MotoGP qualifying left the track wet for the 250cc field as well, and although a dry line emerged by the end of the session, times were still at least 12 seconds shy of Thursday's dry laps.
Andrea Dovizioso was the fastest rider on the day, lapping in 1:51.429. He had qualified second to Lorenzo in the dry on Thursday.
Mika Kallio was second in the session, ahead of Alex de Angelis, Marco Simoncelli and Taro Sekiguchi - the Japanese rider improving on his usual form despite a fall near the end of qualifying.
Lorenzo only went out for seven laps and did not push hard.
"I don't care if I get the pole position (fastest time) in this practice because I already had the pole position so there was no reason to take more risks than you need," he said.
"I'm confident in dry and in wet, so tomorrow we are prepared."
