Moto2: Lorenzo flies to provisional pole

Jorge Lorenzo took provisional pole position for the 250cc race at Valencia by nearly half a second on Friday

The world champion had been fastest throughout the session, but he was knocked off of the top spot by Yuki Takahashi with two minutes remaining.

Lorenzo responded by blitzing the field on his final lap, where he found most of his time in the short final sector.

Takahashi claimed second place ahead of Shuhei Aoyama, while Alex de Angelis completes the provisional front row.

Hiroshi Aoyama was the lead KTM rider in fifth place, while Andrea Dovizioso, Thomas Luthi, and Julian Simon all currently join him on the front row.

Mika Kallio and Alvaro Bautista both crashed during the session, and the pair complete the top 10 on the provisional grid.
