Moto2: Lorenzo retains Jerez pole

Jorge Lorenzo retained his pole position for his home race at tomorrow's 250cc Spanish Grand Prix at Jerez, after having also finished at the top in yesterday's first qualifying session

The Spaniard beat arch-rival Hector Barbera, also on Aprilia, by nearly three tenths of a second. The two had a little skirmish with hand gestures towards the end of the session.

Julian Simon was the top Honda rider in third, beating the Humangest Racing Honda of Andrea Dovizioso in fourth. Both riders were over 0.6 seconds behind Lorenzo.

Alvaro Bautista took fifth, while Marco Simoncelli, who couldn't improve on yesterday's time, had to settle for sixth almost one second away from the top.

Simoncelli's Gilera, however, will be the only one taking the start tomorrow, after teammate Roberto Locatelli suffered injuries including a broken ankle in this morning's practice session. The time Locatelli set yesterday was enough to keep the Italian in seventh spot.

Shuhei Aoyama qualified in eight spot, followed by Alex Debon and Thomas Luthi rounding up the top ten. The top KTM rider was Mika Kallio in 11th.
