Gaining the nickname ‘Magic’ early in his karting career due to his name being equally unpronounceable and unspellable, Maciej was originally born in Poland before moving to the United States at a young age. Discovering karting across the pond, Maciej moved to the UK at the age of 10 and spent a frustrating youth competing in British and European karting on a shoestring budget with his father. Managing to scoop up two championships despite his equipment horrors, his family’s impending financial ruin persuaded him to study a master’s degree in Motorsport Engineering at Oxford Brookes University.
During this time, he began writing for Autosport and Motorsport News rather than focusing on his coursework. Despite this, he currently works full-time in F1 but isn’t allowed to disclose his workplace, as part of his agreement that allows him to continue his journalism work. Unfortunately for both his wallet and sanity, he hasn’t been able to cure himself of his racing driver delusions and plans to compete in the Formula Vee championship with the 750 Motor Club.
Away from the track, Maciej enjoys reading on a variety of subjects ranging from Japanese history to supersonic passenger jets. He dreams of one day becoming a successful motorsport presenter as well as a respected author, not only of motorsport books but also of science fiction novels for which he plans to use a pen name.
